First Love - BeHold Him

How Do I Continually Make God My First Love?

Isaiah 55:6 “Seek the Lord while he may be found, call upon Him while he is near.”

This is a command:

Seek – Attempt to find, Ask for help, Desire to obtain.

Call - Cry out, Shout for help, To make a request or demand.

Find - Discover or perceive, Recognize or be present.

Based on this scripture, God is calling his children to desire Him. God is asking us to cry out for him daily and make our requests known to Him. Whatever you may be going through, call upon the Father; He is waiting for you to come near. Not like a genie in a bottle, but as a son or daughter seeking from a seated position at the right hand of Jesus.

Matthew 7:7-8 “Ask and it shall be given to you; seek and you will find, knock and it will be opened to you.”

God is open and ready to bless his children under His will. The question is, “How do I continually make God my first love?” The How is seeking, knocking, calling, finding Him daily.

Don’t ever let the pursuit of Jesus stop in your life.  He said daily, like you need air daily, you need his presence daily. Breathing air has so many benefits, right? It keeps us alive, keeps our brains functioning along with our muscles and our heart beating. Without air, we die! Let us look to seeking God like air, and without Him, we die in our spirits.

John 15:4 “Abide in me and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself unless it abides in the vine, neither can you unless you abide in Me.“

Abide - accept or act according to, await, remain, lodge, sojourn, dwell and endure.

No matter what life throws at us, we should always remain in the Father's will for our lives. But how do we know the Father’s will for our lives, that we may please him in all things? He is the only answer to that question. When we don’t know how to go, He is the light to our paths and a lamp unto our feet.

John 15:7 “If you abide in me and my word abides in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”

How do we know? Eat of the word daily, meditate and ponder God's word and let it refresh your soul. Let the re-rooting process take place in your heart. In His presence, He will show you the path you are to take for your life. No person or man can do that like Jesus and His Spirit. He is the one who will direct you and reveal your purpose through His word.

Proverbs 3:5-7Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways acknowledge Him, And He shall direct your paths.

Matthew 6:3 “Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all his righteousness and all things shall be added unto you.”

Then we ask, Lord, what are the things of the kingdom that we should put first to honour you?

Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”

These are the thoughts God commands us to think on concerning this life. He is calling us to shift our attention to him. He wants us to desire Him. Not just what he can do with material things, fame and wealth. But to simply want Him and nothing more, to be completely intoxicated with Him. Everything Philippians 4:8 states is the nature of God, those things are who He is.

When we put God first in all things, he answers are prayers and heart's desires. Our desires in his presence will be purified to what He wants for us. God will only bless what he has called us to. We will only know what he has called us to by seeking Him.

When we put all things through the perspective of the father, He is pleased with us. When we surrender our lives to him and only live to give Him glory, He is pleased with us. When we have removed every Idol from our hearts and put full trust in Him, He is pleased with us. When we have learned to be a living sacrifice for the Lord, He is pleased with us.

Even if we mess up and get things wrong, He is pleased with us. This journey with the Lord will not always be right on target and get the bullseye every time. All He wants for us is to trust in Him and give it our best, and he will do the rest. So, we should rest in him. Leaning into the loving arm of our Father, letting Him be the pilot of our lives and knowing that he is guiding us when we seek Him.

 Just simply, BeHold Him!

2 Corithians 3:18 “But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”

Seek, Call, Knock and Find Him!

God, show us how to love you

Show us how to seek you

Show us how to abide in you always and forever more

Amen!!!
